Located at the base of the Selkirk Mountains in Northern Idaho, Sandpoint is a premier summer destination. Sandpoint is on the northern shore of Lake Pend Oreille, a glaciated body of water, which is 43 miles long and is the fifth deepest lake in the United States.

Schweitzer Mountain also offers summer music festivals, paint ball, golf, kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, and berry picking. Sandpoint and the surrounding area offer golfers numerous courses from a relaxing nine to nationally acclaimed championship courses.

The Kootenai Wildlife Refuge, located north of Sandpoint at the base of the majestic Selkirk Range, is an excellent place to view migratory waterfowl, wild game, and a wide open expanse.

Each summer and fall, the area has a number of fun events such as the Festival at Sandpoint, Artwalk, Lake to Forest Triathlon, and Wooden Boat Show. Sandpoint is Idaho’s largest art community with a multitude of artists, musicians, actors, and shows. Coldwater Creek on the Cedar Street Bridge, the first marketplace on a bridge, is a unique shopping experience with a mix of galleries and shops.
